Both Historical SGK and SGK Environment Group had the honour of being short listed for the annual Cathaoirleach Awards by Mayo Co. Co. which took place last Thursday evening 7 th March 2024 at a gala dinner at the Breaffy House Hotel in Castlebar.
The SGK Environment Group was short listed under the Contribution to Local Heritage and Biodiversity Awards – Contribution to Local Biodiversity and Natural Heritage section for its Natural Heritage Parish Wildlife Survey
While Historical SGK was short listed under the Mayo Publications for Community Groups section for its Glencorrib Bell Commemoration Booklet and the history it is donors the Harte family of Mounthenry.
We wish to thank both groups for their dedicated service to the parish
community which is on a completely voluntary basis.
Both groups have been in existence for about 4 years and most of that
was during Covid. And it was an honour for both group publications to be short-listed and it proves that a small parish like ours can be listed up there will the best of them.
We didn’t take away any Oscars on the night but we all agree that those who did win were truly deserving winners.
